Marked Increase in voter turnout at first day of advance polls

The City of Victoria saw a 50 percent increase in voters at the first day of advance polling in the by-election and borrowing referendum, compared to the last general election in 2008.

643 people came through the polls, a 50 percent increase over the first day of advanced polls in the 2008 general election.

416 people voted on the first day of advance polls for the general election in 2008 which traditionally sees a much higher turnout than in by-elections and referendums.

 Polls were open from 8am to 8pm at City Hall. The remaining advance polling date is November 15th at City Hall. General voting day is November 20, 2010. .
