Council approved Project Charter

February 7 2011

On Friday, February 4, Victoria City Council approved the scope, timeline and construction method recommended to advance construction of a new Johnson Street Bridge without rail. Council also directed work to proceed on a parallel design which includes rail. This will allow more time to confirm whether funding for the $12 million rail amenity can be secured and included in the project.

The Capital Regional District Board will discuss the rail component at their Wednesday, February 16 meeting.

Victoria City Council will meet again on this matter Thursday, February 24.

The project must be completed no later than March 31, 2016; the deadline under the federal Building Canada Fund.
