Capital Regional District directors have agreed to have CRD staff gather more information on how they could fund the $5.5 million to bring rail across the Johnson Street Bridge.
On Friday, February 4, Council approved a Johnson Street Bridge Project Charter that does not include a rail crossing. They also agreed to launch a parallel design process that included rail. This parallel process will allow more time to confirm whether funding for the rail crossing can be found and included in the project.
The City will now send a report to the CRD Planning & Transportation Committee next week requesting they fund the additional $720,000 required for the parallel design process.
