New Johnson Street Bridge Pedestrian and Cycling Route

April 11 2011

For public safety reasons, the City of Victoria has permanently closed the rail bridge after inspections found deterioration in key steel support columns.

As an alternate route, pedestrians may use the sidewalk on the south side of the road bridge.

Cyclists have the option of either walking bikes on the sidewalk or cycling across the bridge on the roadway. Existing on-road options remain available for cyclists.

Please follow the signs to direct you towards the alternate routes.

In the coming weeks, further enhancements will be considered to minimize impacts to cyclists and pedestrians until the new replacement bridge opens.

Thank you for your patience.
