Deconstruction of buildings makes way for new bridge

September 28 2011

This week, work began on the west side of the bridge to dismantle three city owned-buildings to make way for the new Johnson Street Bridge. In the coming months, the rail bridge will be removed and Telus communication lines at the bottom of the harbour will be relocated. By building the new bridge to the north of the current Johnson Street Bridge, the old bridge will be kept open to traffic during the construction  period.
