Former Rail Station Roof to be Moved

November 28 2012

Making way for the improved road and path alignments within the Johnson Street Bridge replacement project, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) is completing final deconstruction of the former rail station.

On Wednesday November 28, the building’s roof and other materials were lifted onto a low bed truck. In order to reduce disruptions to traffic flow, the roof and other components will be transported during the early morning hours of Thursday November 29.

The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority plans to reuse the roof and other building components within future developments at Ogden Point or Fisherman’s Wharf. The remaining parts of the rail station will be deconstructed and recycled.
