Neighbouring residents and hotels are advised that PCL Constructors Westcoast will begin work at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11.
PCL will be conducting work that requires a closure of the marine navigation channel (waterway) from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and have requested approval from the Harbour Master for work to occur during these times. The marine channel will be closed to all marine traffic during this time.
Work to install piles in the harbour for the temporary trestle is proving to be more difficult than originally anticipated and an additional closure of the marine navigation channel is needed to allow for the work to be completed.
The City has granted approval for the earlier start time in order to allow the project to proceed on schedule. PCL is sensitive to their proximity to neighbouring residents and businesses and will make every effort to minimize the noise created by the work.
Crews are currently installing the foundation of a temporary trestle and will next install the foundation of the new bridge. The foundation work is expected to continue in the harbour until February 2014. The Johnson Street Bridge Replacement Project is expected to be complete by March 2016.
