Community Surveys

In addition to an extensive outreach effort, the City of Victoria retained Ipsos-Reid to garner public input on the Johnson Street Bridge project by conducting two representative surveys of the community and representative surveys of downtown and Victoria West businesses.

The first set of surveys, one residential and one business, were developed to baseline understanding and community values related to the Johnson Street Bridge. This information helped determine the amenities included in the options to be considered and what information the community needed to make an informed decision about the Johnson Street Bridge.

The second set of surveys gauged the community’s preference of options and this information was used to inform City Council’s decision on whether to rehabilitate the current bridge or replace with a new one.
