Cyclists & Pedestrians

A new signal crossing for pedestrians and cyclists accessing the Johnson Street Bridge from Harbour Road and the Galloping Goose Regional Trail is now in operation.

Located at the Esquimalt and Harbour Road intersection, the push-button activated traffic signal allows pedestrians to safely cross Esquimalt Road and access the sidewalk on the west side of the bridge. Cyclists also have a push-button to access the east bound traffic lane over the bridge. The new signal crossing replaces the existing route off Harbour Road over the rail overpass, which is now a construction area.

The detour will remain in place until the new Johnson Street Bridge is complete and open to traffic in 2016. Motorist, pedestrians, and cyclist are advised to exercise caution while becoming familiar with the new intersection.
