Motorists, Cyclists & Pedestrians

The current bridge will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles throughout construction.

Bridge Closure Wednesday Night – Thursday Morning

The Johnson Street Bridge will be closed to all vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians from 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 13 to 5 a.m. Thursday morning. The marine channel under the bridge will also be closed during this time.

The bridge will be at its full open position in order to remove old wooden piles to make way for a large crane barge that will be used during the new bridge installation.

Traffic will be detoured to the Point Ellice Bridge on Bay Street.

Ongoing Traffic Pattern Changes Near Bridge

Drivers and cyclists can expect some traffic pattern changes near the bridge as the project progresses. Some lane closures will be required and commuters should watch for flaggers and temporary detours.

Signage will be placed throughout the affected area, however, these lane closures could result in some traffic congestion. Work will always be coordinated to ensure as many lanes are open as possible during the morning and afternoon commutes.
